#1 What Is News?

                         

    I'm sure when most teens think of the news we automatically think about a news anchor reporting the latest current events or a reporter interviewing community members about a neighborhood crime. Growing up when I thought about news I thought it was meant for elderly people only. Now that I am older I realized that news is meant for everyone and that television is not the only way that news is reported to the public. In today's era it is so easy to see the latest topic through simply picking up your phone and scrolling through Instagram, Snap chat, Twitter, or Facebook. This leads me to say can news really be defined in one way? News is not just reported from one platform therefore news can have a variety amount of definitions. Not one definition can overpower the other because at the end of the day each source is still giving out information. You can discover news just from driving on the highway because there’s always going to be a billboard somewhere standing high and in plain sight. There are a handful of people that I know that absolutely hate the news. A lot of people feel as if the news is fake and just for show. In my opinion no matter how news is presented to us we should be thankful that we have access to various types of news and that we're able to always know what’s going on in the world.

                                      

    The most accurate definition of news is information newly received or noteworthy information, about current events or important events. There are different genres of news such as current events, human interest, sports, fashion entertainment, etc.  Additionally, there are different types of news such as international, national, and local news. As far as local news it is important because it can advise people in a locality about activities that may have an impact on that particular community. For example, if local reporters make a report about a neighborhood killer/rapist this can alert the community to take precautions. Without them being informed it would probably be several deaths or rape cases due to the community not being aware.                                                                                      

  

                                             

      National news is another important type of news because it primarily encompasses new and sometimes traditional media outlets which includes newspapers, televisions, and the radio. National news is mainly important because it informs the public about political affairs within the nation. Fox news. MSNBC news, HGTV news, and ESPN.

 

                                           

Lastly, as far as International news it is important because news from one country to another is necessary in today's global economy. Knowing what's the hot topic in other countries allows the public to see different ways of life and cultural differences. Most people watch international news to see about current events from places such as Middle Eastern countries. A few international news channels are BBC World News, Sky News, and CNN. 

     Overall, as I stated before news can be informed to the public in many different ways. News can also be defined in many different ways as well. Nevertheless, news will forever be needed in today's era because it is information that keeps us informed about issues that go on around the world and changing events. Following the news also allows you to have more of a broader understanding of local, national, and international affairs.
